MARK YOUR BLADES

Mark your spinnerbait blades!

When catching fish on spinnerbaits, there are 3 important details to remember. These details are why you are catching fish on any given day. They are:

     1. Blades (size, combination, color)

     2. Skirt (color, style)

     3. Weight of bait

Know what you are using when you start catching fish. There is nothing worse than to be catching fish & lose or break your bait and not have a replacement.

It is easy to match your blades and skirts to another in your box but not the weight since not all heads are shaped the same. Pros don't have this problem because they use all of the same brand. The rest of us have a wide assortment in our box. One brands 1/2 may have a large head while another has a small head with weight on the hook shaft. My solution to this problem is to mark the blades with a permanent marker. Write the number of weight on the bottom side of your blade when you take it out of the package. Put a 4 for 1/4, 2 for 1/2, 8 for 3/8, 4 for 3/4. While both 1/4 and 3/4 will have a 4, it is easy to tell the difference between the two. Now when catching fish you will know the correct weight of your bait.
